GIOS TORINO "SUPER RECORD" 1981

52cm center/center – Campagnolo Super Record

GIOS TORINO Super Record 3 - Campagnolo Super Record - Columbus SL RH52cm - Originalzustand!

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

GIOS TORINO Super Record 3 - Campagnolo Super Record - Columbus SL RH52cm - Original condition!

Gios Torino bikes in their traditional blue colors are probably among the most famous bikes of the seventies and eighties. In 1948 Tolmino Gios laid the foundation of the company, initially with a bicycle store. Since the early 1970s, the company has specialized in racing bicycles and since then provides the material for various racing teams. Gios bikes achieved their greatest successes in the late 1970s with the Brooklyn and IJsboerke racing teams. Racing with Brooklyn on Gios bikes were Roger De Vlaeminck and Patrick Sercu. De Vlaeminck won Paris-Roubaix three times on a Gios bike during this period, as well as Milan-Sanremo, the Tour of Flanders and the Tour of Lombardy. He finished second in the World Professional Road Championships.A certain Didi Thurau also rose to fame on Gios bikes. The bike offered here is a 1982 model Super Record. It is the last evolutionary stage of the Super Record models built from 1981 onward. The only change compared to the models from 1979 onwards is the mounting of the brake. This is now no longer attached via a nut, but disappears into the frame. Otherwise the models with the typical '"Coins" on the fork head are unchanged and probably the most desired among the Gios lovers. This bike presented here comes from an older gentleman directly from first hand. Bought in 1981 at Radsport Wulff in Hamburg. It has basically barely been ridden, has never seen a drop of water, and is in a gorgeous, original state of preservation. Considering that the bike is 40 years old, this is quite exceptional. On one -two minimal paint marks you can see the Gios typical red primer of the frame coming through. Only this red primer makes the Gios - blue shine so unmistakably.

One of the best Italian frames must of course also be built with the best Italian group - the Campagnolo Super Record. Handlebars and stem are from Cinelli and are also as good as new. The perfectly smooth turning wheelset of Mavic GP4 rims and Campagnolo Record hubs and runs perfectly. If you look at the brake flanks of the Mavic GP4 rims, you can guess how little the wheel was moved in 40 years.

If you're looking for a classic from one of Italy's most famous frame builders, who is even still active today, this Gios is a wonderful companion. This bike is best suited to participate in classic rides like the L'Eroica.
