Pinarello ist eine der ältesten und erfolgreichsten Firmen im Radsport, die noch heute den Radsport prägt. Giovanni Pinarello wurde 1922 in Catena di Villorba, Italien, geboren. Im Alter von fünfzehn Jahren begann er in der Fabrik von Paglianti Fahrräder zu bauen. Nach einer erfolgreichen Amateurkarriere wurde er 1947 Profi. Nach seiner Karriere gründete er 1952 die Cicli Pinarello S.p.A. in Treviso, Italien. Kaum eine Marke ist über einen so langen Zeitraum im Sponsoring des Radsports aktiv wie Pinarello. Das Team Telekom machte spätestens mit dem Tour Sieg von Jan Ullrich 1997 die Marke hier in Deutschland zum Kult und löste einen regelrechten Boom aus. Die Dominanz des Team Sky bis vor kurzem mit Froome und Bernal waren die letzten großen Erfolge der Marke aus Treviso. In den letzten 30 Jahren hat Pinarello unglaubliche 13 Tour de France Titel gewonnen! Keine Marke war erfolgreicher.

Pinarello steht immer wieder für Innovation und technischen Fortschritt. Durch die enge Zusammenarbeit mit den Teams flossen Wünsche und Ideen der Profis immer wieder in die Entwicklung der Rahmen mit ein.

Das hier vorgestellte "Stelvio" ist der Spitzenrahmen aus den frühen Neunziger und so ziemlich die letzte Entwicklungsstufe des klassischen Stahlrahmens. Die Rohre sind schön minimal voluminöser, der Hinterbau aerodynamisch flach. Der Rahmen hat dadurch eine sehr hohe Stabilität, aber zugleich diese schöne Flexibilität des Materials Stahl. Diese Rahmen zählen definitiv mit zu den Besten aus diesem Werkstoff - einfach eine Maschine, das Arbeitsgerät der Profis in den frühen Neunzigern.

Der Rahmen ist zugleich auch noch schön anzuschauen. Die außergewöhnliche Gabel, der schöne Hinterbau und immer wieder auftauchende Pinarello Gravuren machen ihn zu einem optischen Meisterwerk.

Anfang der Neunziger drängte dann auch Shimano mit seinen Innovationen auf den Markt und brachte mit der Dura Ace 7400 Gruppe und den ersten STI Schalthebeln ein echtes Präzisionswerk auf den Markt. Der Siegeszug Shimanos wurde wohl mit der Qualität dieser Gruppe eingeleitet.

Das Rad ist bisher keine 500km gefahren worden.
