This great Legnano from the mid seventies is in a really nice original condition. Legnano was one, if not the biggest bicycle manufacturer in Italy until the 70s. The name Legnano is closely associated with Gino Bartali, who was a factory rider in the 1940s, and of course with Fausto Coppi, who started there as Bartali's assistant and then changed to Bianchi. The owner of the company, Emilio Bozzi, was murdered by the Red Brigades in the 70s. The family then retired from the business and the company went to Piaggio/Bianchi, its biggest competitor for many years. Until the late 1980s, Legnano built very high quality racing machines - in 1988 there was another highlight when Maurizio Fondriest became world champion on Legnano. Perhaps another interesting detail at the end, the myth says that the trademark (symbolizing the leader of the Italians in the battle of Legnano) was personally designed for Legnano by Alfredo Binda. As mentioned at the beginning, this bike here dates from the mid-seventies. The frame was soldered from high-quality Reynolds 531 tubes - I particularly like the lugs and the chromed fork head. This classic is built with best Campagnolo Nuovo Record parts, 3ttt cockpit and a San Marco Concor saddle. Just the best... The bike is very pleasant to ride and makes a good impression on every Eroica.
