"Andries Gaastra, ehemaliger Verkaufsleiter bei Batavus, gründet Koga B.V., als sein Vater Gerrit den Betrieb Batavus verkauft. Er fügt die ersten Buchstaben des Nachnamens seiner Frau Marion Kowallik mit denen seines eigenen Nachnamens zum Markennamen Koga zusammen.

Gaastras Ziel ist, eine exklusive Serie leichter Fahrräder auf den Markt zu bringen. Das allererste Koga baut er in seinem Wohnhaus in Oranjewoud bei Heerenveen. Schon früh entscheidet Gaastra sich dafür, Ausstattungsteile von exklusiven Lieferanten zu beziehen, um höchsten Ansprüchen zu genügen. Als Koga Importeur von Shimano-Komponenten wird, entsteht ein Netzwerk mit anderen japanischen Fahrradherstellern. So auch mit Miyata, einem Betrieb, der zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits seit 80 Jahren Fahrradrahmen produziert. Bis 2010 werden die Rahmen von Miyata produziert und steht die Beifügung Miyata hinter dem Markennamen Koga. Das Team war viele Jahre Sponsor diverse großer Profiteams. Darunter "IJsboerke" oder "Cari Sonne". In den Neunzigern verschwand man dann leider aus dem Profiradsport. Erst eine Übernehme der Firma ermöglichte eine kurze Rückkehr - 2009 fuhr beispielsweise Simon Geschke auf einem Koga für Skil-Shimano.

Dieses wunderschöne Koga Miyata Full Pro M von 1997 ist ebenfalls ein Meilenstein in der Geschichte des Unternehmens. Dieses Full Pro ist einer der frühen Carbon Monocoque Rahmen aus den Neunziger, der sehr gut zu fahen ist. Der Rahmen war 1997 Kogas top Rahmen im Katalog. Dieses hier vorgestellte Rad stammt aus erster Hand. Sämtliche Papiere, die originale Rechnung und der ´97iger Katalog sind mit dabei. Das Fahrrad hat damals mit dem Upgrade der Mavic Cosmic Pro Laufräder unglaubliche 6750DM gekostet. Das Rad ist im kompletten, originalen Zustand. Der Look Ergostem und die Look Sattelstütze sind so original im Katalog zu finden. Aufgebaut ist es mit einer kompletten Shimano Dura Ace 7700 Gruppe, die damals gerade als 9 Fach Version vorgestellt worden war. Ein Highlight sind natürlich auch die Mavic Cosmic Pro Laufräder - ein früher Systemlaufradsatz, der leicht ist, durch die Hochprofilfelgen aerodynamische Vorteile hat und perfekt läuft.

Das Fahrrad stammt aus erster Hand. Alle Papiere, die originale Rechnung sowie der Koga Miyata Katalog von 1997 sind mit dabei.

Koga Miyata is a Dutch company rich in tradition. The history is very well summarized on the website. It states:

"Andries Gaastra, former sales manager at Batavus, founds Koga B.V. when his father Gerrit sells Batavus. He joins the first letters of his wife Marion Kowallik's last name with those of his own last name to form the brand name Koga.

Gaastra's goal is to launch an exclusive line of lightweight bicycles. He builds the very first Koga in his home in Oranjewoud near Heerenveen. Early on, Gaastra decides to source equipment from exclusive suppliers to meet the highest standards. When Koga became an importer of Shimano components, a network with other Japanese bicycle manufacturers was established. This beautiful Koga Miyata Full Pro M from 1997 is also a milestone in the company's history. This Full Pro is one of the early carbon monocoque frames from the nineties that rides very well. The bike cost an incredible 6750DM at the time with the Mavic Cosmic Pro wheel upgrade. The bike is in complete, original condition. The Look Ergostem and the Look seatpost are so original in the catalog. It is built with a complete Shimano Dura Ace 7700 group, which at the time had just been introduced as a 9-speed version.
