SIMPLON "TEAM ÖSTERREICH" 1980 – TANGE CHAMPION No.1

54cm center/center – Shimano Dura Ace

Simplon – Team Österreich Rad - 1980 - Shimano Dura Ace

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Simplon - Team Austria Bike - 1980 - Shimano Dura Ace

In 1930 Josef Hämmerle started a bicycle shop in the Austrian Lake Constance community Hard. In the 1950s more and more customers bought bicycles "Made in Switzerland", which Josef Hämmerle did not like at all. But instead of getting annoyed, he and his two sons Kurt and Heinz began to build high-quality bicycles and thus to develop his own idea of quality bicycles. The company was founded under the name Simplon in 1961. The beginning of a truly remarkable success story. At the end of the 1970s, the brand was able to establish itself on the Austrian market with a series of racing bike models. The frames were developed in-house, but manufactured by suppliers. 1981 Gerhard Zadrobilek won the Austrian Tour on Simplon. (Source: Homepage Simplon)

The Simplon bike presented here is from 1980. The frame, also in this paint, looks exactly like the one Mr. Zadrobilek drove in his victory. This bike can be seen on the Simplon homepage. The frames are made of the high quality Tange Champion #1 tubes. They feature both high quality Koga Miyata frames and Centurion. I can't say who built these frames. If there are experts who have more information, please let me know / correct.

The frame is built in its entire processing very complex and high-quality. Many details pleased me during the reconstruction of this classic. The complete Dura Ace group including stem and seat post is in a very nice condition.

This bike may not have the big Italian name, but in terms of quality it doesn't need to queue in the back.

A great bike suitable for the L´Eroica, which may be considered quite more exactly.
