OLMO "LA BICICLISSIMA" 1978

56cm center/center – Campagnolo Super Record

Giuseppe Olmo was an Italian cycling professional in the 30's, who celebrated many great successes in his active career as a rider. In 1931 Olmo became the Italian champion of amateurs in road racing, and in the same year he took second place at the UCI Road World Championships in Copenhagen. Twice, in 1935 and 1938, Olmo won the Milan-Sanremo race, in 1936 he won the Giro dell'Emilia and became Italian road champion. On 31 October 1935 he also set a new 45.090 kilometre hourly world record in the Velodromo Maspes-Vigorelli in Milan, which lasted less than a year.

After his active career, he founded the bicycle company OLMO in 1939. They quickly gained an excellent reputation in the scene and sponsored various teams. Olmo was a perfectionist and always tinkered with special frames and shapes.

This bike presented here is one of the early models from the La Biciclissima series, which at that time represented the best frames of the smithy. This more than 40 year old frame, with its great details, is in an incredibly good condition. The bike comes from 1st hand and was ridden by its previous owner only a few times in good weather. The frame is equipped with the best parts of that time. The Campagnolo Super Record group is built in the tuned "Mexico" version. (Standard) The rear derailleur is the 1st generation Super Record. The wheelset is made of super light and rare Mavic Argent 10 rims with Campa Record hubs and is in first class condition. The original OLMO handlebar end plugs are also still present.

The frame, all pantographed parts and the whole Campagnolo Super Record group are in great condition.

This bike is simply a dream! For every collector, but of course also for riding - on the next L ' Eroica many admiring looks will surely fall on this special bike.
