Piece of Art - Colnago Bititan Art Decor mit doppeltem Unterrohr und Campagnolo Record Titanium Gruppe - Traumrad! 

Ernesto Colnago wurde am 9. Februar 1932 in Cambiago bei Mailand, Italien, geboren. Schon als Teenager begeisterte er sich für Fahrräder und schraubte schon zu dieser Zeit sehr viel herum. 1952 gründete er dann Colnago und begann als Mechaniker für mehrere professionelle Teams zu arbeiten. Die Marke Colnago steht wohl wie kaum eine andere für Tradition im Radsport. Ernesto Colnago tüftelte immer sehr viel, ging Kooperationen beispielsweise mit Ferrari ein, hatte immer die größten Rennfahrer wie Eddy Merckx an seiner Seite, fing früh an den Werkstoff Carbon in den Rahmenbau zu integrieren und stattet auch heute noch Pro - Tour Team mit Rahmen aus.

Das hier vorgestellte "Bititan Art Decor" kam 1993 auf den Markt. Colnago revolutionierte mal wieder den Markt und brachte einen Rahmen mit doppeltem Unterrohr auf den Markt. Dieser Rahmen war dann auch noch aus Titan. Ziel war es, auf der einen Seite durch die Verwendung von Titan anstelle vom sonst noch sehr verbreiteten Stahl einen leichten Rahmen zu schaffen. Das doppelte Unterrohr sollte dem Rahmen mehr Stabilität, gerade im Bereich des Tretlagers geben. Colnago lies diese Rahmen bei einer der zu dieser Zeit führenden Rahmenbauer im Bereich Titan bauen. Die Rahmen kamen von Wittson Cycles und wurden dort ausschließlich vom Spezialisten Vidmantas Zukauskas gefertigt. Der "Bititan" Rahmen hatte Anfang der Neunziger Jahren einen stolzen Verkaufspreis und war zudem noch schwer zu bekommen. Berühmt gemacht hat ihn den unter anderem das Team Mapei um Tony Rominger, der auf genau solch einem Rahmen den Giro 1995 gewann. Rominger sagte einmal, dass er "den Rahmen liebe und nichts anderes mehr fahren möchte" - mehr Bestätigung durch einen Champion kann ein Rahmen wohl nicht erfahren. Die frühen Bititan Rahmen haben dann sogar noch eine typische "Art Decor" Lackierung erhalten. In diesem Fall allerdings dezent, dies kennt man Anfang der Neunziger auch anders von Colnago. Aufgebaut ist das Rad natürlich auch nur mit den edelsten Teilen der frühen Neunziger. Hier kam eine Campagnolo Record Titanium Gruppe zum Einsatz, kombiniert mit Shamal Laufrädern in der Clincher Version, einem 3ttt Cockpit in Titanfarben perfekt passend zum Rahmen gehalten und dem extra leichten Selle Italia Novus Ferrari Sattel. Mehr ging zu der Zeit einfach nicht.

This frame was then also made of titanium. The goal was to create a lightweight frame on the one hand by using titanium instead of the otherwise still very common steel. The double down tube should give the frame more stability, especially in the area of the bottom bracket. Colnago had these frames built by one of the leading frame builders in titanium at the time. The frames came from Wittson Cycles and were made there exclusively by specialist Vidmantas Zukauskas. The "Bititan" frame had a proud selling price in the early nineties and was also hard to get. It was made famous by the Mapei team around Tony Rominger, who won the 1995 Giro on exactly such a frame. Rominger once said that he "loved the frame and would not ride anything else" - more confirmation by a champion a frame can probably not experience. The early Bititan frames then even received a typical "Art Decor" paint job. In this case, however, discreetly, this is known at the beginning of the nineties also different from Colnago. Built the wheel is of course only with the finest parts of the early nineties. Here, a Campagnolo Record Titanium group was used, combined with Shamal wheels in the clincher version, a 3ttt cockpit held in titanium colors perfectly matching the frame and the extra light Selle Italia Novus Ferrari saddle.
