Der Name Agostino Coletto sagte mir bis vor kurzem nichts. Ich bekam dieses Rad angeboten und schaute mir die vielen schönen Details an und begann meine Recherche. Agostino Coletto war ehemaliger italienischer Radprofi, der nach seiner aktiven Karriere wie viele andere Profis auch Rahmen unter seinem Namen und mit seinem Wissen über die Anforderungen an eine Rennmaschine bauen ließ. Er besuchte dazu viele unterschiedliche Experten und hatte am Ende eigene Ideen, wie "sein"Rahmen aussehen sollte, um sich von der Masse und von den großen Konstrukteuren wie Colnago, Bianchi, Pinarello abheben zu können. Seine Idee war es, den Rahmen so aerodynamisch wie möglich zu gestalten. Er ließ hierzu die Außenhülle der hinteren Bremse komplett im Oberrohr verschwinden, um sie erst unterhalb der Sattelmuffe wieder aus dem Sitzrohr austreten zu lassen. Gerade in Kombination mit der aerodynamischen Dura Ace AX Bremse ist dies eine geniale Lösung. Der Zug wird hierzu ebenfalls durch die Sattelstütze geführt. Die Schaltzüge laufen ebenfalls komplett im Rahmen. Als Schalthebel kamen hier nicht die AX zum Einsatz, sondern die Simplex Retrofriction, da diese von der Form und Funktionalität einfach besser passen. Der Hinterbau des Rades sowie die Gabel sind auch Columbus AIR. Wenn man sich hier die sehr aufwendige Anlegung der Sitzstreben an die Muffe ansieht, erkennt man sofort die Liebe zum Detail. Dazu sollte man sich auch das Steuerrohr einmal betrachte. Hier dient nicht etwa ein Decal, um auf den Hersteller hinzuweisen, nein, hier ist der Coletto Name ins Rohr eingraviert. Dieser Rahmen ist wirklich ein kleines Kunstwerk, hier kann man sehr viele sinnvolle Details sehen.

Aufgebaut ist das Rad - und so war es meiner Meinung nach von Anfang an geplant, mit einer Shimano Dura Ace Ax Gruppe - Shimanos erste Aero optimierter Gruppe, die völlig neu designt war, die völlig neue Wege ging. Heute ist die Gruppe, die damals zugegebenermaßen kein großer Erfolg war, in diesem Zustand schwer zu bekommen. Sattelstütze und Vorbau sind ebenfalls aus der Gruppe. Der Umwerfer nicht, da der AX Umwerfer nicht an den Sockel passt, bzw. sich nicht hoch genug montieren lässt. Ein Augenmerk sollte man auch auf den tollen Laufradsatz richten. Dura Ace AX Naben in Kombination mit ASSOS Felgen und Messerspeichen. Wow, ein weiteres Highlight des Rades.

Wer einen besonderen Klassiker abseits des Mainstreams sucht, der sollte sich dieses Rad einmal genauer ansehen.

The name Agostino Coletto meant nothing to me until recently. I was offered this bike and looked at the many beautiful details and began my research. Agostino Coletto was a former Italian professional cyclist who, like many other professionals after his active career, had frames built under his name and with his knowledge of the requirements of a racing machine. He visited many different experts and in the end had his own ideas about what "his" frame should look like in order to stand out from the crowd and from the big constructors such as Colnago, Bianchi and Pinarello. His idea was to make the frame as aerodynamic as possible. To achieve this, he made the outer casing of the rear brake disappear completely into the top tube, only allowing it to emerge from the seat tube below the caliper sleeve. This is an ingenious solution, especially in combination with the aerodynamic Dura Ace AX brakes. The cable is also routed through the seat post. The shift cables also run completely inside the frame. The Simplex Retrofriction shifters were used here instead of the AX, as they simply fit better in terms of shape and functionality. The rear triangle of the bike is also Columbus AIR.If you look at the very elaborate way the seat stays are attached to the lug, you can immediately see the attention to detail. You should also take a look at the head tube. There is no decal here to indicate the manufacturer, no, the Coletto name is engraved into the tube. The bike is built with a Shimano Dura Ace Ax groupset - Shimano's first aero-optimized groupset, which was completely redesigned and broke new ground. Today, the groupset, which was admittedly not a great success at the time, is difficult to find in this condition. The seat post and stem are also from the groupset. The front derailleur is not, as the AX front derailleur does not fit on the base or cannot be mounted high enough. You should also pay attention to the great wheelset.
